How to easily travel around Sri Lanka in 2023

Getting to Sri Lanka

The official air carrier of Sri Lanka is Sri Lankan Airlines which is known for its impeccable hospitality services. In addition to Sri Lankan Airlines, many international flight services operate to carry passengers to and from Sri Lanka at regular intervals.

Getting around Sri Lanka by air

If you don't have much time to spend in Sri Lanka, and yet have a bunch of destinations to cover during that period, you obviously need a quicker transport mode. Getting around by trains

For long tours, you may take intercity buses (often air-conditioned), but the rates may be slightly higher than the normal buses. Main cities in Sri Lanka (such as Colombo, Galle, Kandy, etc) have major bus stands, and these bus stands have buses that go anywhere in Sri Lanka. Travelling by bus in Sri Lanka is also a great method to observe the local lives of the people, and if chances permit, you may also be able to be friends with a local and have a good chat until you reach your destination.

Getting around by car/motorbike

Many taxi services (cab services) offer Sri Lanka tour packages for foreigners- with or without divers. If you are confident about your driving, you can choose to self-drive. If you choose to have a driver with you, the rate will be a little higher than that for the first option, but this is a safer method for a traveller (or a group of travellers) to whom the local roads are challenging, Once you reach a particular destination, you may also rent scooters (or even bicycles) and on them, you may explore the destination like a local. This is a great activity that you can try out in Sri Lanka, and at any time you need help (in an instance of an accident, tire punch, or loss of directions), Sri Lankan locals will always be there to help you even before you ask for it.
